This super creamy greek yogurt ranch will become your new obsession. At least that’s how it’s been for my whole family. I use it to dip carrots and veggies, drizzle all over my favorite salads and of course, dip pizza crust.
Meanwhile, Tony practically drinks it by the bottle.
This creamy, healthy ranch dressing recipe is small batch and made with ingredients you can actually pronounce, plus the greek yogurt adds a nice boost of protein. It can be kept in your fridge for up to a week, but trust me, it never lasts that long.

Ingredients in greek yogurt ranch dressing
This homemade healthy ranch dressing seriously tastes like your good old Hidden Valley but with better-for-you ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Plain Greek yogurt: we’re using protein-packed greek yogurt instead of buttermilk or mayo to easily lighten up this homemade ranch.
- Garlic powder: love a little kick of garlic in ranch. Don’t you?
- Onion powder: the secret ingredient for that authentic ranch flavor.
- Lemon juice: always need to add a little acidity to salad dressing! Apple cider vinegar would word in this, too.
- Dried dill: feel free to use dried dill or freshly chopped chives for the herb component.
- Salt: to bring out the flavors in the dressing.
- Optional: a little honey to add some sweetness.

Can I make it dairy-free?
Sure! Swap the Greek yogurt for your favorite dairy-free plain yogurt. Just be mindful of the consistency, as you may not need to add water if the yogurt is relatively thin.

Add a kick of heat
If you love spicy ranch, try my Healthy Chipotle Ranch Dressing! You’ll just add a little chipotle chili powder or chipotle Tabasco hot sauce.
Alternatively, you can mix in a few shakes of your favorite hot sauce.

How to make homemade healthy ranch
Add all of the ingredients to a bowl or a mason jar and mix until well combined. If using a mason jar, you can simply put the lid on and shake the jar until well combined.

Choose your dressing thickness
Whether you’re looking for a pourable ranch dressing for salad or a thicker ranch to dip pizza, you can choose! Mix in 1 tablespoon of water, then slowly increase the amount of water you mix in until you reach your desired consistency.

How to store greek yogurt ranch dressing
This healthy greek yogurt ranch dressing will stay good in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Simply give it a stir (or a shake) before using it.

I’m always looking for the best homemade ranch dressing. Finally, I think I found it. I followed the recipe exactly including a small amount of the honey. I used Cabot yogurt which is very thick. It needed the 2T of water for thinning. I used ground garlic, not fresh. I tasted it before I put in the optional honey but thought it was a bit too tart. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed! Yes, the honey helps to cut the tart flavors in here 🙂
I really liked this a lot! I just made it and it didn’t need any sweetner. The dill brought out a lot of flavor. Thank you!
So happy to hear that!
I tried the Ranch dressing today and it deserves 5 stars. Even my husband liked it. Whenever I try a new recipe I ask him, “can I make it a second time”? He responded “definitely’!
So happy to hear that!!
This was great on a pinch. Threw it together quickly when we realized we needed ranch dipping for our pizza.
The best!!
So simple to make and with stuff you usually have on hand. Super tasty too! First time we had it my boyfriend asked why anyone would ever even eat the bottled stuff. If you’re on weight watchers it’s zero points! Great way to get your veg in, guilt free!
Absolutely! Glad you both love it!
I tried this and all of my friends and I loved it so much! This is my go-to ranch recipe from now on!
Thank you for the amazing recipe! 🤍
So happy to hear that!
How long does this last/ shelf life?
Just put in the fridge?
Thank you
Yep store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week 🙂 see the full post for all of these extra tips!
Love this lighter, healthier ranch dressing! I stopped buying the name brand dressings because they have additives like monosodium glutamate in them. I added chives from my garden and they taste great in this.
Amazing! Great idea to add fresh chives!
I’m on a diet so this dressing would be good to use when watching my weight, creamy, and fast to make.
This is the taste of Ranch dressing that I remember from the last century!
One thing I tried instead of cutting with water to lower viscosity cutting with whole fat weigh from my cottage cheese was a good modification!
I’m glad that worked out well!
This is pretty good! Thanks for the recipe. I added 1/4 tsp of chives on top of the 1/2 tsp of dill. (Honey sank to the bottom and got stuck so probably wouldn’t add honey next time)
Love chives! Glad you enjoyed. If adding a little sweetener just be sure to whisk it well while you add it 🙂
I am so sorry, but this recipe was terrible. I actually had to scrap the whole batch, because even trying to add some things to it to fix it, I couldn’t remove the sourness of adding lemon juice to the already sour base of yogurt. I ended up just concocting my own recipe, with absolutely no lemon juice and much less dill than is called for her. I would never attempt to make this recipe again.
Sorry to hear that it didn’t turn out! With just 1 1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice and the other herbs and spices it should have the right amount of tang and not be too sour. What brand of yogurt did you use? I’m curious if that could be contributing to the sourness.
That dressing shocked me! It was delicious. I didn’t use honey. It was definitely the bombb, and assuredly my go to.
Thanks! Was exactly what I needed to tie our buffalo chicken rice bowls together. 🥰
Amazing! Glad you found this recipe and it turned out great for you 🙂
Made this yesterday to have today thought it would be nice to marinade in the fridge for a few hours. Its lovely and fresh, should be ok for 3 days in fridge, if it lasts that long.
Will make again. Thank you
Yay! so glad to hear this recipe turns out great for you!
Mine tastes like sour cream n onion. Help. Which of the ingredients do I need to add more of?
did you change anything about the recipe or the measurements?
Okay I don’t know how you came up with this but it’s literally amazing!! Made my mouth very happy 😂
LOL thank you! Glad you’re loving this recipe ❤️
I just copied this recipe so have not tried it but I know I will enjoy using it. Have health issues and love ranch but unable to have it and vinegar based dressings get to my teeth. Thank you for this recipe.
Enjoy!
This recipe is amazing! My sense of taste has been messed up since getting covid and ranch has had this disgusting rancid after taste. This recipe doesn’t have that! I’m so freaking happy I can enjoy ranch again! I added a bit of black pepper and it’s perfect. Thank you! 🙂
Absolutely! So glad you found this one and are loving it 🙂
This is delicious and easy to make! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! Glad you enjoyed.
This dressing is DELISH! I have made it with both lemon juice and apple cider vinegar, and I prefer the apple cider vinegar. I also prefer making it with about 1.5 t of honey.
So glad you enjoyed it, Mary!!
Wow this really tastes like ranch! I accidentally reversed the measurements for the onion powder and garlic powder and still tastes great. I actually would keep doing it this way.
Haha glad it tasted great!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Delicious, simple, super quick and easy. Will have this with our veges tonight, cucu slices and carrot sticks. Yum
Where has this been my whole adult life?! It’s JUST like ranch, but so incredibly healthier and 0 WW points for my husband! Thank you!
Yay!! So glad you found it!
I tried to give a 5 star but it wouldn’t highlight it. This is a 5 star ranch. I doubled it and made it using lemon juice. Definitely making again. Love it
Sorry — that happens to people sometimes! Would you mind sharing what internet browser you use? We’re trying to figure out how to fix that glitch!
SO happy you loved the recipe. Thanks for commenting 🙂
I tried this recipe and followed it to the letter. It was the most vile thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Sorry.
I’m so sorry you didn’t love it! Would you mind explaining what you didn’t like about it? Any feedback is much appreciated 🙂
Where has this dressing been all my life!!! So tasty. We just ate it drizzled over roast veges and it was sooo good. I only added 1 tablespoon water and added a further teaspoon of lemon juice as I felt it needed a little more tang. Yum!
YAY I’m so glad you loved it!! What a great sauce for roast veggies 🙂
This dressing is great! I have to eat dairy free, but it works well with coconut, almond, or oat yogurt as a substitute! Thanks!
Wow! This is so amazing – all I can say is wow! I can’t wait to add this on top of a quinoa or farro bowl.
This was great. Because I can’t do dairy, I used coconut milk yogurt. It is runnier than greek yogurt, so I didn’t add the water. It tasted great, and while it was a few more calories than greek yogurt (I was looking for lower calorie dressings) it still is very reasonable. Thanks!
Oh nice, so glad to hear that worked well in here 🙂
Could I use fresh dill instead of dried?
Absolutely! Just chop it finely 🙂
So good!
Yay! Glad you’re loving it.
This ranch dressing looks amazing! I grow my own herbs, so how much fresh dill would you recommend? Thank you!!
That’s so cool! I think about a tablespoon of finely chopped dill would be great in here 🙂
I used higher fat Greek yogurt for a thick dressing, and used the apple cider vinegar option. It was delicious on chicken wraps!
Great idea! Glad that you enjoyed it 🙂
